Do you ever wonder what it means to have the clothing colors you have? Do you pick one article of clothing every time it’s clean and have another that hasn’t been worn in years? Did you know the colors you surround yourself with, the very shirt you have on, is a form of self-expression?
I study colors, independently and intuitively, to discover the meanings and messages within certain colors, combination of colors, and the underlying stories we tell with the ones we choose to use.
Maybe you haven’t given colors this much thought. I understand. So, what would you like to know first? For starters, your favorite color is a strength within your life. It’s a color that helps you shine and participate actively in the way that color vibes.
You don’t have a favorite? That’s usually a sign you’re juggling a lot of things and trying really hard not to drop any of them. Or, it could be a sign of inclusion…making sure everyone involved has an actual contributing part. It’s definitely something to consider.
Your least favorite usually shows a weakness of sorts. This sometimes looks like “the laundry doesn’t get put away” and other times may look like “I forgot to call Jesse about her contribution to the Bar-B-Q on Sunday”. It may also show a deep dislike due to things that may have troubled you for some time.
Every reading is different and even if two people pick the same exact colors for me to interpret, some things will be similar, but much of each person’s story will be different because other factors are involved, like how saturated the colors are, how they work well with each other on my intuitive “color table”, etc.
After studying the colors for a number of years, I’ve come to see what I do as a form of self-care…adding or releasing a color goes a long way in shifting the color vibes within your life…which then shifts and changes your life in some way.
You’ve made it this far, thank you. What can I share with you specifically to gain something of personal value in this moment? Here it is: Pick a new color. One you may have admired for some time, or one that catches your eye while you’re out shopping. Give it 30 days within your space. You may even want to go a step farther and write down your feelings throughout this process.
Colors shift things so subtly that it may not seem as if anything is happening. I can assure you, things are happening. Your vibe will have shifted to a new awareness that causes your consciousness to be more alert and have a clarity it didn’t have before.
Depending on the color you choose, you may become bolder, you finish those long overdue projects, you may take better care of your personal needs.
I recently recommended my group members buy something in a color they don’t like. This new color could be a little harder to have around. It isn’t to demand a color you can’t stand within your space, no. It is so that you can allow the color to not have you feeling defensive and maybe help you heal in ways you may not have even admitted you needed healing with. My suggestion was a coffee cup in particular because so many of us have a cabinet or shelf with different cups. It’s a good way to see that color every day…from a distance.
